#TopFiveThursday with #BookBlogger Kerry Parsons At ChatAboutBooks

Today on #TopFiveThursday I’m thrilled to have Kerry Parsons from http://chataboutbooks.wordpress.com answer those dreaded questions that every book blogger hates, me included (That’s why I ask the questions 😀). I love Kerrys blog and her honest and to the point reviews. If you haven’t come across Kerry’s blog already, why not pop over and take a look at some of her fab reviews you won’t be disappointed I promise.

Top 5 books you’ve read this year, so far?

SO hard to choose just 5, but I have gone with….

Dirty Dix & Wicked Dix (Hard Love Romance #1 & #2) by Monica James, Can I be cheeky and add these two as one? Pretty please?

The Second Chance Shoe Shop by Marcie Steele

The Little Village Bakery by Tilly Tennant

Field Of Lies by John Pye

Valentina by S. E. Lynes

Top 5 authors you think everyone should read?

Mel Sherratt / Marcie Steele

John Pye

Alison Lingwood

Valerie-Anne Baglietto

Lucy Partridge

Top 5 books you want to read before the end of 2016?

My Husband’s Wife by Amanda Prowse

Silent Scream by Angela Marsons

Don’t Turn Around by Caroline Mitchell

The Girl In The Ice by Robert Bryndza

The Drought by Steven Scaffardi

I know, I know, the last four should have been read ages ago! I know I’m missing out which is why I need to have read them before the end of the year.

Top 5 blogging tips that you would give to new bloggers?

I’m still a new blogger myself so not entirely sure I’m qualified to offer tips, but I’ll have a go…..

Publish regularly to keep readers interested.

I try to keep reviews fairly simple and honest, without spoilers. I love to spread the word when I’ve loved a book and want everyone to read it so I always include links to buy and any other relevant links to the author / publisher. I’d love to think readers have bought books as a result of my reviews.

Follow other book bloggers and share their posts, they will generally do the same for you. The book blogging community is awesome!

Tag authors and publishers, where possible, on Twitter and Facebook. They are generally quite chuffed with good reviews.

Most importantly enjoy it! Reading is a pleasure and blogging about awesome books is too. Don’t let it become a chore.

Top 5 book blogs you follow?

Again, very difficult with so many fab book blogs to choose from (yours included!). These lovely ladies are awesome though and have always been very supportive.

I’m 38 years old and live in Newcastle-under-Lyme (just outside Stoke-on-Trent). I have been married to Steve for 14 years. We have a 16 year old son and a 14 year old daughter (she was 5 months old when we got married). Steve also has a 20 year old son. We have a 5 year old Shih Tzu called Bella (hence my email address and Twitter name!) and a 6 year old rabbit called Cappuccino who has always lived in the house.

I  am currently a housewife, but also our church treasurer. I was a senior carer in an elderly residential home before having my babies. I have done short term jobs since having them such as working in a playgroup, post service calls to BMW/Mini owners and being a lunchtime supervisor at the children’s primary school. I was also a parent governor for 3 years.

Reading has always been my favourite hobby along with walking (and more recently, running), cooking, baking, TV and cinema. I spend a lot of time with family and friends and I count my blessings daily.
