**Sunday catch up** with the book review café

Well what a great start to the year NOT! I’ve been struggling with the flu this week, so unfortunately anything to do with blogging went on the back burner. I’ve literally spent the week sleeping, sneezing, coughing and being sick with some reading thrown in, but not a lot. Anyway enough of my moaning I’m feeling loads better,  so I thought it was time I did my first catch up post of 2018.

Books I have read since January 1st

I’m giving myself a “pat” on the back as my NetGalley shelf has the least amount of books on it since I joined way back in 2015!!!! I only have FOUR books on there, and I’m hoping to keep it that way with my new “rule” read one then I can request one, if I can keep to this hopefully I will have a more manageable TBR pile, although it’s hard as there are so many amazing books for publication so let’s see how long my new rule lasts 😂😂

Note: Tell Me I’m Wrong is an ARC I received from author Adam Croft

My most viewed posts this week

Despite not posting any new content this week, I’ve still had a healthy (excuse the pun!) amount of visitors pop by my blog. I’m always concerned that when I don’t post for a while everyone will forget my little old blog, but strangely enough I seem to get my visitors when I don’t post anything for a while, there’s a lesson in there somewhere me thinks 😂😂

Life Of Crime by Kimberley Chambers #Bookreview @HarperFiction @Flisssity

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen #OmgthatTwist @panmacmillan

Between You And Me by Lisa Hall

The Surrogate by Louise Jensen #BookReview @Fab_fiction @bookouture

Books I’ve bought this week

I can’t wait for my copy of Unsub by Meg Gardiner to arrive I’ve heard such great things about this book and once I read Janel’s review over at  Keeperofpages I knew I had to buy a copy come hell or high water! And yes after reading all the hype surrounding Anatomy Of A Scandal by Sarah Vaughan I finally gave in an bought a copy.

Next week on the book review café

I’m hoping to post some book reviews that have been sat in my draft posts for ages, I just haven’t got a round to posting them for one reason and another #BadBookBlogger! And A day with author…… will be back but for now…………….

Sorry to hear you have been ill too – I’m also glad to be feeling much better and definitely not the right start to 2018. Well done on your NG shelf, that is fantastic and it looks like you found some great books to start the year off with.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better, Lorraine! I didn’t realise you were poorly, just figured you were taking a break.

But even with being sick, you managed seven books in two weeks! Isn’t that some kind of record? 😂

    Hi Lorraine,

Sorry to hear that you have had the dreaded ‘lurgy’ and I hope that you are feeling much better now.
There are so many mutations of this virus, that it seems to be affecting everyone slightly differently and to varying degrees.
So far we have both managed to avoid it completely, but how long that can last – who knows?

You have already managed to read substantially more books than I, despite your illness and I am now going to enjoy a few minutes checking them all out. My dilemma is going to be how to avoid adding them all to my ‘Want To Read’ shelf and I envy your NetGalley resolve, which I just couldn’t sustain when I tried your approach!!

Happy Reading and keep sharing those great new books 🙂

Thanks Yvonne for your lovely comments I’m not sure how long the NetGalley rule will last there are so many fabulous books out this year, but I will do my best 😂😂

Glad to hear you’re feeling better now, Lorraine. Looks like you’ve kicked the year of in a great way in regards to books, though, and well done on the NG shelf – it’s also my plan and so far so good…but we are only 2 weeks into the year xx

It sucks being ill but I’m happy you’re feeling better! And I CANNOT WAIT for you to read Unsub!!!!!!!! And congrats on lowering your NG titles, I’ve currently got 7 on my shelf (and 2 pending 🤞) I want to get to three and then implement the ‘one read, one request’ rule 🙂

I’m glad you’re feeling better. I’ve had the horrible flu too – it seemed to go on and on but I finally feel more human again now. I’m so impressed at your restraint on NetGalley! I’m a long way from catching up but I’m working on it. I’m reading Anatomy of a Scandal at the moment and it’s so good! I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Here’s to a better week and lots more good books! 🙂
